Greetings, this is Mrs. Taylor, proud principal of Warren Central High School!
The first 2 days of school were a great success. Students are slowly but surely figuring out how to navigate some of our new spaces. Please note that we will continue to provide lots of adult support in the hallways to ensure students know the best way to get to all of their classes on time. I ask that you speak to your students about the importance of using their time in the hallway wisely and to talk and walk and refrain from standing and talking. Due to the opening of all hallways, students now have more direct paths to all parts of the building and are given plenty of time to get from one class to the next. We will begin to address tardiness and record tardies this week. The goal is for students to be in all classes, every period, and on time.
Couple of quick reminders regarding the school dress code and cell phone policy. Please note that school is a place of work and we ask that students are properly covered. Cut off shirts revealing belly buttons, undergarments, and not covering a student's entire back are prohibited. Additionally, pants are to be worn at waist height preventing undergarments from hanging out. As always all graphics on any clothing item must be school appropriate. You may reference dress code guidelines in our school newsletter and school website. Cell phones are not permitted in our 9th-grade academy and are at the discretion of the classroom teacher in other parts of the building. It is the expectation that students are abiding by the rules regarding cell phones within their classes. This includes the expectations teachers have for earbuds connected to student devices. To provide the best learning environment we want students focused on learning and not distracted by phones. I appreciate your support in helping us enforce this expectation.
Lastly, Lifetouch will be in the building Friday, August 4th to take ID/School Pictures for any student who has not had their picture taken. Once students have their IDs they will be expected to wear them visible on their persons while in the building or at after school activities. This new requirement is one of the many safety protocols we have put in place. IDs allow us to know on-site that a student belongs in our space. Thank you again for helping us enforce this expectation with our students.
As always if you are looking for additional information about what is happening in the building and throughout the district check out our school website and weekly newsletter.
Have a great evening.
