The students at Pleasant Run participated in our annual Jump Rope for Heart kick off on 1/16. This will be our 16th year participating. Did you know that through our generous donations last year we helped save 68 LIVES? Let’s do it again. All of the students have received their donation envelopes. Please take a moment to look over the information and help your child raise money for the cause. You can go online for donations which is a real easy way to raise money. Check it out, instructions are provided on the collection envelopes. February 13 is our Annual Jump Rope for Heart Celebration, so let’s get started today asking for donations.
Pleasant Run students are participating in the “I Love to Read Challenge” presented by WISHTV. Each student received a sheet to keep track of the minutes they read each day. The challenge goes through February 27. During this time the goal is for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade to read 1200 minutes and 4th grade students to read for 2500 minutes. Each day during the challenge we ask that students read at home for 30 minutes and keep track of it on
their log. We will also log the time they read at school. It is also fine for parents to read to their children and count that time. Reading is very important and we want all of our students to participate. At the end of the challenge prizes will be awarded to students who complete the challenge. There will also be an opportunity for the class with the most participation to go
downtown for an award presentation if they are chosen. We want all of our students to
show their Panther Excellence and complete the challenge.
Missoula Children's Theatre production for 2015 is "Rapunzel". Auditions will be Monday, February 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Creston Middle School Auditorium.
MSD Warren Township students in grades K - 8 are eligible to audition for approximately 65 acting/singing roles in the play. No advance rehearsals are needed for the auditions.
The performances will be at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 7 in the Creston Auditorium, 10925 East Prospect Street.
Students who audition must have a clear calendar for the week of February 2 through 6 from 4:30 to 8:45 p.m. nightly and all day Saturday, Feb 7, for the dress rehearsal and two performances. These actors must be available each evening for the entire week for rehearsal and preparation for the public performances. That means no music lessons, ball games or doctor appointments for that week.
Admission tickets will be available at the door for $5.00 per person for ages 6 and over.
For students, one of the College and Career Ready standards’ most important new requirements is that correct answers alone will not be enough. Correct answers are very important, but along with them there is a new set of “mathematical practices” that teachers will expect from students. This is part of their preparation for 21st century jobs. More information>>>.
You are invited to be a PAC Parent!
Does your child ever take too much time to do homework… need an extra boost of self-esteem…use social media…or choose not to follow your directions? As a parent, do you ever feel like you could use some support from other parents who have the same concerns with their children as you? If so, you are encouraged to register for our upcoming PAC (Parents are the Core) sessions. Throughout the 2014-15 school year, six sessions will be offered for parents.
